Bridge Philanthropic Consulting: U.S. Charitable Giving Surpasses $617 Billion, Creating New Opportunities for Nonprofits Ready to Lead
NEW YORK, NY July 8, 2026
Bridge Philanthropic Consulting (BPC), one of the nation’s leading Social Justice full-service fundraising and social impact consulting firms, today highlighted the release of Giving USA 2026, which reports that Americans contributed an estimated $617.2 billion to charitable causes in 2025, the highest level of charitable giving ever recorded in current dollars.
The findings reinforce a powerful message for nonprofit organizations: philanthropy remains strong, but success increasingly belongs to organizations that are prepared, culturally intelligent, relationship-driven, and strategically positioned to engage today’s donors.
“Crossing the $600 billion mark is more than a milestone; it is evidence that generosity continues to define America,” said Dwayne Ashley, Founder and CEO of Bridge Philanthropic Consulting. “The question is no longer whether philanthropic capital exists. The question is whether organizations have the strategy, leadership, and fundraising capacity to access it.”
According to the report:
-
Total charitable giving reached $617.2 billion, increasing 5.7% over the previous year.
-
Individual giving totaled $394.2 billion, remaining the largest source of philanthropy.
-
Foundation giving exceeded $117 billion
-
Bequest giving increased nearly 20%, representing the fastest-growing source of charitable support.
-
Education, public-society benefit organizations, and environmental causes experienced double-digit growth.
Ashley noted that while the national numbers are encouraging, they also signal an increasingly competitive fundraising environment.
“Organizations cannot rely on traditional fundraising approaches alone,” Ashley said. “Today’s donors expect authenticity, measurable impact, strong governance, compelling storytelling, and meaningful engagement. Organizations that invest in building these capabilities will be positioned to secure transformational gifts.”
For nearly a decade, Bridge Philanthropic Consulting has partnered with nonprofits, higher education institutions, healthcare organizations, faith-based organizations, foundations, museums, public agencies, and global social impact initiatives to strengthen fundraising performance and organizational capacity.
The firm’s approach extends beyond campaign management by integrating fundraising strategy, prospect research, board development, executive coaching, philanthropic partnerships, grant strategy, government funding, corporate engagement, and organizational transformation.
“Our work is rooted in cultural intelligence,” Ashley added. “We become an extension of our clients’ teams because successful fundraising is built on trust, relationships, and understanding communities. Those principles have never been more important.” Bridge Philanthropic Consulting believes the Giving USA findings should encourage nonprofit leaders to invest in:
-
Major and principal gifts programs
-
Planned giving strategies
-
Board engagement and fundraising leadership
-
Corporate and foundation partnerships
-
Donor stewardship and retention
-
Fundraising infrastructure and data-driven decision-making
“As philanthropy continues to evolve, organizations that embrace innovation while remaining mission-centered will be the ones that thrive,” Ashley said. “This is an extraordinary moment for nonprofit leaders who are prepared to think strategically and build lasting philanthropic partnerships.”
